aero kits

Hey guys, need help. I have a stock 2001 996 and I'm looking to install an aero kit. Currently on E-bay # 2447100590 is the look that I'm after. I believe the wing is from the older GT3, the side skirts are the older style-more curvey rather than the straight GT3 skirts, and the front bumper is from a turbo, but specifically what? I like the high ridge on the side, about the height of the center of the wheel. Thanks for any Help, Rob

Bummer, I really like the look, but more importantly would prefer to have factory parts. Thanks

Why not do the Porsche 996 GT3 Aerokit? The same you looked at just with the GT3 Aero front bumper as well?

After alot of thought I've decided to go with the OEM turbo bumper and lip, which I am looking for and have placed a post in the wanted section. Half the battle is deciding what to do!

Turbo Bumper won't work

An OEM Turbo bumper won't fit with your 2001 C2--you don't have the new turbo-look headlights, so to make the turbo bumper work, I believe you would have to replace the headlight assembly, as well as the fenders.

Another option--I belive MaShaw offers a turbo-look bumper designed specifically for 99-01 C2's...

Hey Kevin, I've heard alot about you. I almost purchased Jasons bumper before I decided on the turbo look. Anyway, thanks for the pic, I just got off the phone with Mike (who also knows you well) and confirmed the purchace of the front bumper and side skirts which will complete my body kit...yea!! My other choice was the GT2 bumper that nrauto sells, but I've only heard bad things about that place, although I really liked the look. What are your thoughts on that bumper? Reference www.raauto.com look at Porsche then body kits. Take Care, Rob

Will that bumper fit a 2000 Boxster S and how do you think it would look with the Aero sideskirts?

Yes the front end of the Boxster is the same as the 996..

Car looks great. Are the Mashaw front bumpers made from the same materials as the original Porsche bumpers? How good is the fit?

I need to decide on one by Monday!

The MASHAW bumper is fiberglass, the OEM is Polyurethane I believe. There is more labor involved in the TT bumper.. they have to cut the bumper bracket to fit the bumber, and cut out the center vent so the mesh fits flush with all three.

So much for that.

I'll have to stick with the factory Aero/GT3 nose and sideskirts. I want the same material as the factory bumper and I don't want the shop to make any modifications. If they make a bumper for this vehicle they should make it a perfect fit. I think it may attract more customers.

I also wouldn't mind paying more for it if the materials were better. Oh well!
