mix'n'match tires?
Well. After discussing the issue with you, Tire Rack, a bunch of my very knowledgeable friends -- one of whom drifts -- I called my Dad and apologized for my lack of knowledge RE: an AWD car and the implications therein necessitating matching tires. He's going to take off the Pirellis nad replace them with mathching Bridgestones, then when the current Bridgestones die, he'll get a pair of matching Pirellis to finish up the fronts.
Thanks you so much for the blunt truth, I hugely appreciate it.
*NOTE* wagner, you're obviously getting a double-thank you

ALSO:
If you want to laugh about something, here you go: my Father and I aren't really such noobs as it seems like when it comes to driving. Granted, my three open track days certainly aren't much to talk about, but my Father is certainly very well versed behind a wheel:
* completion 3-day Jim Russel driving school, East Anglia, UK (1964)
* competitive SCCA Class C license, Ontario Speedway, CA (1965)
* completion of B.P. Skid Control school, Toronto, Canada (1969)
* numerous competition races ... also "back in the day"
So obviously I've had the benefit of his training over the years, although obviously each new day at the track is a new day to learn *EVEN* more ... even days NOT at the track, kinda like right now!!
But yes, thank you very much for all the feedback, I realy do appreciate it and am a bit ashamed at having not realized the severity with mixing tires on an AWD car like our Porsche. I mean, I knew it would cetainly not be an IDEAL situation to have, I just didn't think it would be so detrimental as to warrant undoing it.
*sigh*
I have indeed learned a lot.
