Rim Rash - Pointer Needed

Scraped the lip on my 11 1/2 x 19 HRE 540R and need to have it polished out. Thanks in advance for a quick pointer to a shop in West LA with experience, good workmanship and quick turn around. Last time I had this done it took over a week. The outside reverse lip is aluminum (non clear coat).

TIA

Al

Al, I just read a DIY on the subject the other day, but don't remember which forum. Try Rennlist or Renntech. It was pretty complete, with the materials etc. needed.

But please do us a favor and instead of spending hours to mask off the entire car and all around the wheel well and around the brakes, etc.....

Just take off the freaking wheel!

And the whole putty thing is usually not worth it. Just sand down the metal until it is smooth and paint it.

Thanks Everyone - Got it fixed through Eli at Fast Forward Wheels - Great service!

Note - this is a HRE 540R so the lip is polished Aluminum not a painted surface so the raw Alimunim lip must be buffed to a brilliant shine.

those are the easiest to fix. i hope you didn't pay too much.

i fixed major rim rash myself on 3 of my 4 viper wheels that were polished aluminum. a quick dremel to take out the big gashes quickly and then some sand paper to smooth that, and finally a paint polish worked great to bring the shine out. no way to see the damage, and only 30 minutes a wheel to fix.

the aluminum sands really easily since it's a soft metal.

Thanks Al, can't beat the door to door service...... Here's a before and after shot. I'm sure it passed the "now find where it was" challenge.

Just got mine done too. Iforged, same barrel used as HRE got it fixed at a wheel repair place. Same day service, $165!

I think my curb rash was worse than the above picture.
