i have no idea other than the RS is more money and very exclusive. i am not even sure if they are even sold here. although like i said before, i did see one at the racetrack once and it was trailered. maybe they're not street legal, i have no idea....

The 996 GT3 RS was not sold in the states. (Although a few have been converted) It is pretty much a lightweight version of the 996 GT3 with factory roll bar, GT3 seats, RS front bumper and rear wing and PCCB as the only braking option.

The RSR is the race car that is above the GT3 cup car... like in pictures below... my car was done to clone the RSR body conversion

So, back to my point; does the grill - or lack of one - affect cooling of the third radiator?

no... this is the same radiator also used in the C4s.. don't need the vents at the top of the bumper. Those vents help release air that is in the bumper (from what i have been told) and helps cut through the air better.....

The way it was explained to me was at very high speeds, instead of the air going out under the car, it is ducted out above so that it increases downforce. This is the same reason the new 997 GT3 has the vents and the previous GT2 and GT3 RS/RSR had them. It wasn't previously deemed necessary for the 996 GT3, but I guess porsche did a bunch of things to the 997 GT3 so it won't be mistaken for a Carrera with an aerokit and lowering springs.
