woo hoo! new (to me) 996 / wheel q's

hey all,

just picked up a '99 996c2 a couple of days ago after owning ( and loving ) a boxster for a few years. man, the power diffference is incredible and intoxicating! the 996 isn't quite as "tossable" as the boxster but the power makes up for it.

so here begin the mods. the car came with crappy looking 17" porsche wheels so upgrading is in order. after searching the archives for the widest tire/wheel i can run, it seems i can run 18x11 295/30-18. does this mean i can run turbo 2's? i really dig these wheels, nice and aggressive but will it cause any rubbing? are the offsets the same as a c2?

anyone know the offsets for a c2 and turbo2 wheels? anyone running turbo 2s on a c2?

thx all

Congrats on your car!!! Pictures please!!

And I think once you become more "comfortable" with the engineering and design differences performance wise with your C2, you will find that it's really more "tossable" then your Boxster. That is what I am finding anyway.

And as far as wheels, I do believe it's going to depend upon the offset of those wheels you are looking at.

Look forward to seeing you on the Bay Area roads!!

Robyn

Congrats,The Turbo 2 doesnt come in that fitment, the Turbo 2 comes in a rear fitment of 18x10 with a 65 offset and would run a 285 30 18 tire, the sport techno style and new 04 GT3 wheel are both 18x11 offset 63 295 30 18 fitment for the Carrera.

I still contribute to the Boxster board now and again. Enjoyed putting together the Fall Drive at the end of October. But, the Boxster went buh bye in August. I traded her in and I am now sportin' this new baby.

I looooooooooooove this car!! Do I miss my Boxster? Yes, I miss "my" Boxster.

But, this well makes up for any compensating I might have to do. Uh, that is definitely a joke! But, honestly, you are going to love your new car!!

She was an awesome car. Someone is out there driving around with one hooked up Boxster S.

too bad you couldn't hang on to the wheels. they're shweet!

yes, the boxster was a fun car but the c2, incomparison, is much more solid. no squeaks and rattles like on the ol '98.

are you getting the '04 gt3 wheels? i think you mentioned it in a previous post.

hope to do a drive soon!
