Looking for a 996...
Okay, I've been Porsche-less for too long. A new 997 S isn't in the cards at the moment and I really want to move on from my 993 C4S days.
I'm looking to move fairly quickly so all leads appreciated. I'd prefer to buy from an individual unless a dealer can provide a CPO.
What am I looking for?
I'm looking for a low-mileage, one or two owner coupe that has all service records from new. Absolutely no paint or accident history. Manual is preferred but tip is okay if the price is right.
Lighter colors are preferred but will consider any color if the car is right.
Model Years? I'm open to all
Pricing: Depending on year and options, I'd be looking to spend between $30K for a 1999 to mid to high $40k's for a 2002 or even 2003 model.
Yes, I know, I'm covering a broad spectrum here. Condition and history is the biggest consideration!
Thanks!

Have known people to have surprising luck with online classifieds. cars.com, autobuytel.com, autotrader.com Be smart of course, and your success will vary on the size of your search area.
There is a 02 or 03 seal grey sitting at Dick Dyer Mercedes in Columbia, SC. Don't know a thing about it but you should be able to find more information from their web site. Ray Pignitor should be able to help you. Their phone is 803 786 8888. Ray's a good guy and has sold me / my wife several vehicles.
I saw that car at Dick Dyer. The price is fair (under $40K) but it has high mileage and is low optioned.
Thank you for the lead....all leads are welcomed!

If you do get a car from a indivual, I'd recommend having the local Porsche dealer do an inspection. The cost should be around two hundred dollars. They'll tell you exactly what reconditioning you'll need to do after you buy the car.
A good CPO dealer should know the story on the car a be able to put you in contact with the pevious owners.

Check Ebay in the late fall - some people buy 'em in the Spring and flip their ride in the Fall or Winter. Hunt carefully - check Carfax and run a Lexis Nexis on the proprietor to make sure they are not in Federal prison somewhere. Make sure the car did not serve as a Uboat during recent Hurricane-belt surges. Ask seller to convey car to Authorized Porsche Dealer for thorough inspection and diagnostics and to specifically eyeball for any early signs of RMS failure. They can check body panels for repairs and alignment etc. Good Luck!
Where are you located? The general manager of Englishtown Raceway in NJ want's to sell some of his personal porsche's. I think he has a low mileage perfect condition 2001 and an early 90's turbo.
