I know this is a stupid question, but I was wondering if cosmoline can heat up and drip similar to an oil leak? I have an MY02 C2 cab that I've had three separate seals replaced by the dealer, and now (for the first time) I'm seeing what appears to be a small amount of oil leaking from the center of the engine. I guess that this must be the dreaded RMS leak, although I have never had this changed out. I'm hoping (foolishly) that this is possibly excessive cosmoline dripping after a hard drive. Could somebody please give me hope...

It may be possible but I have never seen an example of this under any car that I have worked on. The cosmoline should have a thicker consistency then engine oil, so you may be able to determine what it was byt looking into that. Please keep us updated as to what you find.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow about this issue, and I will likely need to take the car in to get it checked out. I'm guessing the worst case scenario...an RMS leak. I will keep you posted.
