My weekend project...
My weekend project...
After painting my brake hubs on the 996, I thought I would do the same on the Cayenne... When I sprayed the brake cleaner on the hub and wiped it off I noticed that dull silver stuff came right off.... guess what.. there is a beautiful shiny silver hub underneath that silver gunk... Now Im sure its there for a reason, but I removed it and it looks a hell of a lot better!! I don't see a purpose other then maybe they didn't want it to turn black from brake dust.. Some pics... I used brake cleaner and steel wool to get the gunk off..
Before
Half and Half Cleaned..
All gone..
Look what my dealer did!! Now I have a complete spare tire
Wheel on
Notice the shiny no-turn Ralph Boothe Caps!!!

Bingo. Sealant, or a nice orange color in a few weeks.
You can paint these hubs with high temp paint found in home centers, the stuff you paint bbq grills with.
Just mask off everything well, and don't do it in the wind!
