Dealer:"The break should squeal.." ???
well.. whenever i tip breaks, it just keeps squeal, and i talked to the dealer today, they told me that the break is new and it's metal against metal and bla bla bla, eventually, " the break should squeal"....
i have no idea, and is that true?

My Porsche brakes have always squealed. Although they haven't begun on this car...I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Brake harder, the squeal goes away.
They might be glazed a bit, seriously, do some hard braking and see if this helps the situation.

I had this problem and was seriously concerned. My dealer too told me that this was very common. Basically two things I learned was one: find a place to brake hard at speed (ie a freeway offramp with no one behind you
. This should remove any coating or layers of chemicals on the pads and rotors. Did this once and the problem was gone. Also, official Porsche recommendations, from what I'm told say no tire dressing on the tires to shine them up. Seems like this causes some brakes to squeak even if you don't spray it on. Hope this helps.

thank you guys, very very useful tips, cuz i had scheduled an appointment to fix up the car today.
but another thing that i am confusing is, my 01 c2 is not a new car, and had originally 17000 mile on it, .... the previous owner didn't do nuffin about the break?...............

It all depends on the pads you use.
It's very hard to find the right compromise in friction (especially in performance cars) and squealing.
Like Gab said, some hard braking (make those rotors turn red!!
). If it doesn't go away ... try out several pads (or set a group test for all brands on the forum
) to find out the right pad.
While we're at it ... avoid at all costs long soft brakings. This will cause the pad to melt unevenly on the rotor ... and will ruin your brakes (unless you have the rotors machined, get new pads ... etc).
When you put new pads in too, you should always brake hard and for a short amount of time rather than decelerate for 1/2 hour. Breaking in new brakes, often forgotten.
BTW, race car brakes squeal
