I realize Tiptronic is not DSG, but there is a reason manual clutches are slowly being phased out by Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche etc.
I thought the manuals are still quoted as having a faster 0-6 and quarter mile. The lambo and Ferrari and even the BMW SMG are not tiptronics they are true clutches that are operated by a computer and hydraulics.

It is true that those SMG's (Sequential Manual Gearboxes) are faster at shifting and can be very capable track cars.

The porsche tip is just a computer controlled automatic tranny, with a torque converter. It is less efficient and has a higher drivetrain loss that a clutched system.

I realize this, that is why I said tiptronic is not DSG. My point is I have real-world track comparisons between manuals and tips. You can essentially control the entire downshifting/upshifting (lift) process with your right foot. Granted, I am by no means an expert driver, nor were the turbo drivers. Just my 2 cents.

Try to test drive both and see if you like Tip. I found the driving experience was quite different.

One more point for tip, no RMS issue

Real men don't drive Porsche's that are not manuel....the whole reason to drive a car like the 996 is to get back to the true sport car feel of being actively engaged in the car...otherwise buy a Lexus.....

As a real man, I dont need heavy, hp sapping useless add-ons like air bags, stereos, and brakes. Only girly men have brakes.
