6spd or Tip
6spd or Tip
Im looking at a 99 996 911 silver w/blk with 56k miles its auto/tip. Is there anything that i would need to worry about with a tiptronic? I really want 6spd but if i can get the car for the number i want i might just deal with it. What do you guys think and what are your experiences?

Thanks in advance!

I would prefer lower miles like around 30-40k and $35k max and aero kit if possible and only silver unless its a good deal and decent color. Ive been hunting on auto trader, cars.com for the past year and i actually bought one and there was something wrong with it and the dealer didnt want to sell it or warranty it so the sale fell threw ill post a pic of it. This particular 996 i would try and get it at $28999 w/56k miles.

But maybe if you want one already "hooked-up" and you like black. . . .

I guess it depends on what you want to do wit the car? If you plan on tracking it or driving it aggressively I would say the 6speed is the only way to go. If you do a lot of city driving and just using it as a commuter car and will be stuck in stop and go traffic then the tip might be a good fit for you.
I would say if you really want a 6speed hold out. Where are you located? I got my car through a guy who goes to the auctions for you and will search for the specific model, options and mileage you are looking for. He charges a flat fee over the auction price. If you are interested PM me and ill give you his contact info.

I feel I must defend the tips here. Believe it or not, I have found the tips to be better suited to track driving than street driving. The Porsche tiptronic is the smartset manumatic I have ever driven. Pop it into manual mode and the car shifts faster than most any driver. I continually beat turbos coming out of the apex's. I realize Tiptronic is not DSG, but there is a reason manual clutches are slowly being phased out by Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche etc.
