Order extra key/remote for my 996--Sticker Shock

Just placed an order for just an extra key for my 996 from AristocratMotors, Porsche dealership. Cost $320.61 + $15 for 2 day shipping. Wow!!!!! Had no idea how expensive these things are . Does this sound about right?

You may have been screwed.

LIST is:
Key Head, $172
Key Blade, $110

Now if they are programming it for you, you probably did ok, as they may charge as much as $50-$100 for that on top of the parts. If it was just the parts, they took you for about $40.

buy it from carlsen porsche. they quoted me $190 programmed, i believed with the key blade cut as well. i bought the keyhead from ebay for 70 brand new, bought the key blade for $30 had it programmed cut for $20. so i spent ~120 for everything.

you, sir saved me a lot of beer money.....believe it or not, the $320 price Aristocrat Motors quoted me "doesn't" include the cost of programing (that's another $60).

per your suggestion, i called carlen porsche this morning and order a new one remote/key (cut to code) for almost half the cost. unfortunately, i will have to bring it into Aristocrat for programing..(hated to give biz to outfit like that) thank you again so kindly.
