So I am thinking about a C4S

I know very very little about the entire porsche line, but I would like to learn more. Is there a site that can provide me with details on each model from 97 up? I currently have an Audi A4 and was going to move to the S4, and planned on moving to a Porsche in 2 or 3 years, but I went over the budget and I think I can fit this car in. I live in the core of the city, so I use public transit to commute so the rental car budget I hear of is covered. Any advice would be appreciated.

The 996 C4S was first introduced in MY2002, MY2004 is the third year in the 996 line up but probably the last because the MY2005 is supposed to be the introduction of the new 997. All 996 C4Ss are basically the same car, differ only in trim levels. Scot, the C4S will be a great choice in your part of the country whether it be a 993 or 996. Good hunting

Maybe I a confused by the 'MY' part, does that mean it was released in that year?

Here is an example of exactly what I would like to find:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10156

I read that this car puts out near 13.5 second 1/4 mile times. Is this true? Also, what are the mild mods that are available? I don't want to move to a supercharger or anything, but just curious as to the what the aftermarket is for it. Thanks.

Scot, MY means model year. The new year's production generally begins in Stuttgart in late August after the traditional European vacations in that month, thus the first cars of the new model year arrive in the US in early October or thereabouts.

I just bought my first Porsche, a C4S. It's the perfect car for me. It's essentially a turbo without the turbo engine. In other words, it's got the brakes, suspension, clutch, and several other features from the turbo model. It's a tad slower than a two-wheel drive 911, because it's a little heavier. And you don't get that *fun* feeling of the rear end sliding around when you punch it while in a turn. Many of the higher-end options from the two-wheel drive model are standard on the C4S, such as more extensive leather in the interior.

People have different subjective impressions of driving the 2WD and 4WD models. Some think that the C4S is stiffer, while some describe it as more solid.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Scot,

The one you linked is a 1999 C2 with the older 3.4L engine. If you look at my profile I'll probably ring a bell with you too. Small world!
