I went to Carmax to sell my wife's 2010 Audi Q7. They offered me $4k more than the Lexus dealer I am buying her new car from. I also sold Carmax my previous car 2 years ago and again their offer was the best by several thousands of dollars.

While I was delivering the Q7 to Carmax, I took the opportunity to have them appraise my Porsche, which by the way was one of the last 997.2 to arrive to the USA (August 2012):

I agree, I think that is too low and you can get much more selling yourself. Surely someone on this site would give you more than 60K for it.

 

Do you get tax benefit for trades in FL? That can often offset the difference between trade and private party.

 

I would expect in the 70's for sure.

 

With used 991's in the low $60K price I see it tough to get $70K for this car, but its possible.

 

This seems low to me. I have sold a couple of cars to Carmax (although no p cars), and also had them appraise a couple before trade in. They always seem to be right on kelley blue book (+ or - a bit, usually between trade in value and private sale) provided you do an honest assessment of your car through the KBB website. So, for a .2 2012 C4S in good or better shape, I would think they would have done better. However, as others have said you will likely do better anyway selling it on your own. I have sold to them for convenience since I did not want to deal with handling the calls, emails, test drives, etc.
