Turbo Bumper Installed!

I figured I'd start a new thread to post the results... Installed GT3 side-skirts and turbo bumper. It was a hassle, but worth it! Here's what the shop did to make this bumper work:

1> Turbo eyelids (not sure if it was necessary)
2> Shortened reinforcement bar on either side
3> Cut the Carrera air ducts so the turbo bumper would fit over them
4> Fabricated brackets so that the bottom of the bumper could be screwed in (versus leaving them unscrewed, which is the way some people choose to go without any problems)

The car looks 100X better now. I was always a little so-so on how the front of a stock carrera looks; now I can't find the slightest complaint. It looks exquisite.

Actually, it could use a suspension mod, but other than that, it's perfect.

Oh yeah, ended up not getting the bumperettes (warts) removed. They were claiming $400+ labor, so I figured I'd leave them for now. I can live with them, they look alright.

Check out the pics in my sig...........

The bumper came with the grills, and the bottom lip. I bought the turbo eyelids (black plastic piece, one for each headlight, closes the gap between bumper and headlight).

That's all I needed. They used the Carrera's air ducts; the turbo air ducts don't fit.

Why do you ask? I could have sworn you had already gone with mashaw's turbo-look bumper and mesh.....

should of done a wide body conversion. flaring out the rear would have killed it.

Thanks Ron, thanks everybody......

Flaring out the rear would have "killed it?" By killed it, I'm guessing that you mean it would make it really really good looking?

The money from widening the rear, upgrading to new rims all around to make up for the wider butt... I could upgrade to a turbo instead, which would make a lot more sense to me. I don't see the sense in widening the rear with my measly 320 horse.

For cosmetic purposes though, the widebody upgrade is real nice...

i doubt that 7k more would come even close to purchasing a turbo, but what do i know. i just thought since you were making cosmetic changes to achieve a turbo front look, you might as well flare it out and add the turbo rear bumper. and if you thought 320 hp was measly you should have bought the turbo. trust me i would know. 320 hp is measly, i wish i bought the turbo. btw your car does look nice.

chumpulump-I'm thinking about doing the same thing for my car. Did it effect how the car handled at high speed? and all you need is the bumper cover and the eyelids right? thanks

Yes, bumper cover and turbo eyelids are all you need.

Make sure the bumper has the grills, and the bottom lip too. Those pieces cost something like $600+ if you have to buy them separately from the bumper cover itself.

High-speed stability seems fine to me. A couple of other people on this board have been running this setup for months without any probs.

You may want to get the GT3 side skirts at the same time, or the car will look strange--the front will be lower than the sides.

thanks for the info!! I did order the GT3 side skirts from FA. I guess my car will look somewhat like yours except AS and topless.
