Curse of the Supercharger??
Curse of the Supercharger??
Seems the Supercharger carries a curse with it! Ever since I got it back, all we've had around here is rain, snow, sleet, ice and never a chance to drive!! When will the curse lift so I can stretch my SC's legs?!?!?

p.s. Yes the car is outside, moving to a new house that has no garage (yet) -- we're building a big one. I'm going to cover it and put it under the carport as soon as the snow and ice melts!!

Re: Curse of the Supercharger??
Hi Scott, I've been thinking about taking the SC plunge too; I've also considered moving to the 996TT. Obviously the SC is less money; how do you think the performance compares?
Sincerely,
Paul

"Yes, my same thoughts exactly...how does the SC compare to a TT?"
favorably - ESPECIALLY if you have a 3.6. the 996 c2 is considerably lighter than the TT, and the power delivery is much smoother. while putting down less torque, my 996 (3.4) is putting down TT hp (though the TT has more of it's power available earlier than i do). however, the 3.6 is a little monster. i think evo is getting like 430 AT THE WHEELS. 430 at the wheels with the drastically lower weight than a TT should make for quite the interesting comparison.
another interesting comparison is the 3.4 996 compared to the first gen GT3

hey ben,
it seems to me like you got the most drive time on an evo SC. i am very interested in purchasing one because i am not satisfied with my cars power ANYMORE, now that you have driven it for some time, is the power enough or are you finding your self in need of more power. On a SC car you can't really tune it any more to push more power. unlike a turbo, the additional power that can be added is almost endless.

so far, i've not really craved anymore power. that said, my primary driver is a truck and secondary an E46 M3 which both makes the SC 911 seem like a monster.
btw, you're close enough to come down anytime you like for a test.

Scott, Dont feel bad man, all we have had here is really cold temps and snow after snow, the cars havent been out in over 3 weeks.

I took a trip down to see Ben's car today... I just want to thank Ben for meeting me and taking me for a "little" drive. MAN... I'm still smiling from the experience!!!!!!! Ben took me on the same road that he posted his rpm's on, I'm just speachless. never gone so fast in so liitle time AND gone into turns that fast! Geez, driving home, my car felt SOOO slow! Oh well, I'm in the process of budgeting for this. His car really screams. Thanks again Ben!"
