Problem with the driver seat electrical adjustment
Problem with the driver seat electrical adjustment
My mate´s dad has a 996 carrera with a annoying problem
The Driver seat cant be adjusted in any way, when you press the buttons to move it, nothing happens, You hear that "bwww" noise as it would be moving but nothing happens..
The Porsche workshop has a 1 month waiting time so, it would be great if someone here knows what the problem is and how to fix it..
Thanks,
Fredde

Does it not try to move at all? This may sound crazy but i have heard of pennies or other change getting stuck in the rail jamming things up on other cars. I have not actually looked at the rail setup on the 996's but it might be worth unbolting it and checking if there are any obstructions.
The fact you hear the motor is what led me to think this way.

if a penny were stuck in the rail you´d still be able to tilt the back of the seat, right?
Maybe some kind of eletrical? but the motor runs :S

Probably its going to end with me lying under the car unbolting it and lifting it out to see if somethings wrong..
There are three or four motors for a full power seat. Each is connected to the seat base with a small plastic tube/housing that contains the drive mechanism. These are secured to the motor and to the seat base/track with metal plates. Sometimes these tubes/plates will crack/break and need to be replaced. On my buddies car one of the tubes broke at the end and the seat lost the function of that motor. If you remove the seat (four torque X bolts) you can lift the seat and see the motors and drives. You might want to check this out.
