Stupid steering wheel question
Stupid steering wheel question
Okay, maybe I missed the reason somewhere in the many, many threads that I have read on the various Porsche boards, but I had a question on the OEM steering wheels. It seems that a lot of you guys prefer the 3 spoke wheel to the 4 spoke. Is this just a personal preference kind of thing, or is there some other reason? I actually like the feel of the 4 spoke better myself, but I thought that I might be missing out on something by not having the 3 spoke!
I have a 1997 Boxster and I did not understand the 3 vs. 4 spoke thing, since my car came with the leftover 993 4 spoke.
Then I drove a few Boxsters with the 3 spoke. It felt better in my hands, plus the extra spoke prevents you from holding the wheel in certain positions. And is is just a bit smaller than a 4 spoke.
So I bought a used 3 spoke w/ air bag from a local guy who converted his 2000 Boxster S to a track car, about 2 or 3 years ago.
It is a personal preference , nothing more. Jeff
