True, and the mods will void the warranty on the 335 too. And one of the BIGGEST reasons I got mine was because of the convertible top. And the PSS9's and SSK make this car feel like it should. Now if only I could bolt on another 80 lbs. of torque!

RMJ,

I like your post and I'm glad to hear that your car still excites you. I drove a new M3 before I bought my 996 and know I made the right choice. I look forward to running with some 335s on the track to see how they compare.

How will the ride be with a more sporting suspension? These are all unknowns....With a basically stock 911, you KNOW. In 2 years we will know about the durability of the 335 after being modded. We will all know the ups and downs and pros and cons...now even stock though, thats not a bad car at all. I am just not a HP chaser, and I lik ethe entire package that Porsche gives us. It is reliable, fun, performs amazingly, and my car is QUITE civilized with PSS9's, sitting on 19s, with NAV, Sat radio, an AMAZING audio system, and when the weather is great (like 320 days out the year here in SoCal), I can drop my top! Sorry thats an UNBEATABLE package. Even it it only has a measely 300hp and goes 0-60 in 5 seconds and tops out at about 175....I'm off to drop my top and grab some lunch....
I agree, while our cars are still a previous generation, they are still as fast if not faster than a the 335. its a great car but stock for stock it still is no 996 911. I have a carrera 4 cab and can run it 0-60 in 4.8 sec with nice amount of feathering out the clutch and dropping the hammer and power shifting. it is such an exciting car to drive and will always own a Porsche.

even though the 335 is newer technology, comparing it to a 996 is comparing apples to oranges. different purposes entirely...

No matter what mods you do to a 335, it will still be an overly mass produced vehicle on an entry level platform. Porsche has put over 40 years of refinement into our flagship sports cars. And I can feel every one of them. I don't care how much horsepower you stuff into that 335, it will never a be a Porsche. See which car the valet guy parks up front.

OUCH....well true, but harsh....hey like I said before, the 335 with the right mods will probably be a blast....lots of HP can overcome lots of deficiencies in other areas...look at the Vipers and Vettes...and my other post stated my position....more than 300hp ina modern car is simply not needed when the car is built and setup properly for performance....hell I used to have a BLAST in my 76 2002...it had MAYBE 115...but what a blast to drive. I STILL miss that car...

Well wants are a whole OTHER discussion...but its funny, think 10 maybe 15 years back to the days of the "supercar"....That performance is now done in a modern car with all the comfort, convenience, and reliability.....I wont even drive a TT....I dont want to "WANT" one....lol....
