GHL Exhaust INstalled: thoughts
no more than 2 miles on the car since install, some first impressions:
-wife: loved it, not as loud as what she was expecting
-me: inside the car, windows up (we had rain here in los angeles yesterday), hardly noticeable in terms of increased decibels. what was noticeable was a subtle lower rumble at idle (at a red light lets say). under hard acceleration, you can here the difference inside the car.
-me: outside, standing behind the car: definately lower at idle and has a minor rumble at startup. the sound at idle is definately lower (albeit not that much) and has a slight rumbling sound. the exhaust does not seem to come alive until 2.5-3k rpm or higher, then it is NOTICEABLY different from the stock setup. definately throatier/raspier/louder, but not by some crazy amount. my friend who was with me said it was just perfect.
well, there u have it. i won't wake up anyone in the neighborhood, my wife still likes the car and will drive it, and only those people behind me or those that i pass will know the exhaust is not stock. i think this is a fair assesment.
QUESTION: i had the original tips put on the pipes (kind of like it this way) because the ones that came with the cans were for a newer body porsche and did not fit properly in the exhaust cutouts (rear apron). DO THE TIPS MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE EXHAUST SOUND? WILL THE GHL TIPS SOUND DIFF THAN THE STOCK TIPS? i know nothing about this subject matter, was just wondering if the orig tips mute out some of the sound.
will post a sound clip either today or sunday.
