Get the cat-bypass and buy an O2 Simulator, it'll fool the ECU into thinking the cats are still there and functioning properly...

About 50 dollars, and no it shouldn't screw up the computer mapping, it just fools it into thinking that the last 2 o2 sensors (which monitor the cat performance) are still there....

I am going with Fabspeed's muffler by-pass pipes. They have some great vid clips on their site. Sounds sick!

Allow me to share my experience. Before spending $600 for new Fabspeed muffler bypasses ($150 used), I decided to have some fabricated for me ($20). The sound of the car without anything on it and the pipes is slightly different (on a Coupe). Without the small pipes, the resonance created in the wheel wells was too much. Those little pipes that exit the gases through the rear eliminated most of the drone (not all) and made it tolerable. I left them on for about two weeks and it was fun for a week or so. Loved the sound past 4K RPMS and went out of my way to drive through a tunnel nearby and recall my days when I watched old RSRs race around. After spending 3 hours on a highway drive, I reverted back to the stock cans. The bypass is cool, but not for everyone. I had a ton of interior rattles too with the bypass. My suggestion? Do the "Pep Boys" version of the muffler bypass pipe before spending any major money to see if it "floats your boat". Do I miss the sound? YES! Do I want it every single time I get in the car? NO!

www.o2sensorsimulator.com, they're generic, but they claim to work on Porsche. Also, the simulator can simulate 2 o2 sensors like you would need in a 996...

I just installed my muffler bypass pipes Friday on my 03 C4S and I agree that these are very loud..........Like the other 6speeder w/ the 997S said and showed in his youtube vids, I also am about being "LOUD AND PROUD". This is my daily set up (well, weekends actually). They are extra loud going through overpasses and tight areas like garages at the mall. I just love setting off the alarms on all the cars in the parking lot around the holidays.

Caveat Emptor - If you are looking to be low key, not the option for you. IMO - Just DO IT!!!!! Being that there isn't another Porsche for 500 miles in Michigan, you might as well let everyone know in a 500 mile radius that you are around.

I agree with GOB. I fabricated some muffler bypass pipes and absolutely love the sound, especially in the upper RPM range. I am now looking for a used set of Fab Speed bypasses to clean up the look. It's fun to buzz by someone at about 110. Sounds like a low flying airplane. Not for everyone but it sounds solid, not obnoxious. I should add I have B&B headers and stock cats. If you are interested in a more mellow sound, I have been very pleased with the B&B mufflers as well. I have gotten many complement on the sound, especially during track days. Depends on what you want.

$300. I used them for 45 minutes, didn't like the sound, took them off. They are $550 new from FabSpeed.
