will i pass smog with bypass pipes on or will i need to put the mufflers back on each time I go in for a smog check?

With muffler bypass pipes i am pretty sure that it will not effect smog since your stock cats are still intact.

I ran for nearly a year with them. Wish I still had them...can I have them back Eric? I miss them. No problems either. They were loud...but I never had any problems with the police.
