2004 C2 & C4S same acceleration times?
hopefully people won't get annoyed by another seemingly 2WD vs. 4WD thread. My question is since when do the C2 and C4S post the same 0-60 times? I know that the 4's have better traction that make up for the weight, but in early 911 literatues, they state 5.0 for the 2's and 5.5 for the 4's, manual of course. When did this change and how/why?
Also I am looking to purchase a winter beater car / used / AWD / sporty / decent luggage space for about 20,000 - 25,000. Any recommendations?
TIA

Porsche claims the C2 will do 0-60 in 5.0 sec, and the C4S in 5.1 sec. Porsche's performance numbers are generally conservative, but the difference between the two cars (0.1 sec) is probably right. The difference is due to weight; the C4S weighs about 200 lbs more than the C2, and every 200 lbs equals ~0.1 sec in acceleration times.
There are just too many variables that can affect 0-60 times, IMHO, the ability of the driver and his willingness to abuse the car being the top factor. That's why we've seen 0-60mph figures all over the place. But according to the specs from Porsche, for the 03/04, 0-100km (0-62mph) for the 6 speed C2 is 5.0, C4S is 5.1 sec.
Winter beater? What the Cayenne S is for??

I wouldn't be surprised if the added traction of the awd makes the 0-60 times closer than the 1/4mi times. The 200+ added lbs have to show up somewhere
As for 20-25k beater: I bought an '04 wrx wagon a few months back. you can get them for near 20k, and they are a blast.
