Universal Navigation Units??

Hi all...can anyone recommend a Universal Navigation system I can install in my car?

I have an Alpine TME-M750 6.5" widescreen monitor that is a standalone hooked up to a 6 DVD changer. So I currently use it for eye candy in the car...a fireplace, aquarium, gold fish etc. It has the 2 additional inputs for nav and aux.

I did some research and the ALPINE Nav system is very very expensive. Around $1500-$1700 for the system w/o the monitor.

So I was looking into something else..maybe universal brain that uses CD rom or DVD rom and can plug into ANY monitor.

Any one have any ideas or reccos?

EDIT - I found out that AUDIOVOX will be releasing a Universal Nav unit in MARCH 2007. So I can wait for that if I have to....I am going to check EBAY as well and see if I can find a nice used Alpine one.

Thanks all.

Cedric is infamous around these parts
There are plenty around, sell the one you currently have and get a Pioneer AVIC-N1 or N2 (All Avic series for that matter )They're flip out units with CD based Navigation and everything in it.

Probably the best to come out in the last 3 years or so they've been out.

I am going to check EBAY as well and see if I can find a nice used Alpine one.
As far as i know , ALpine ones has always been separate, meaning the navigation box is separate $2200 is what it costs brand new i think, and you have to get a separate screen for it.
Pioneer is the leader right now. Go with that.!

That is my problem...I already have the Alpine monitor I just need the "brain." So I am looking for an alternative brain instead of the super pricey ALPINE unit....my Alpine monitor is already in the car and works fine...I just need the brain for it to be Nav.
