Brake lights/Fuse Issue
Brake lights/Fuse Issue
My brake lights work sometimes and other times dont. First my left one is out, then it comes back, and now the right side it out. I was reading something about a relay or fuse that needs to be replaced (i am probably wrong I cant remember much) OR i was thinking it just means I need to replace all my tail lights (but i doubt they would all go bad at the same time?!) Any ideas thoughts etc.
ALso how the hell do you replace the bulbs with the engine in the way? O ya and my license plate light (left side) is out as well. I pulled it out and it has a wierd tube/fuse like bulb....
Thanks guys

Well, for your brake light problem. You might check your brake light switch. It is around the brake pedal. If it is going bad, it will affect your brake lights coming on. Also, you might check the tabs inside the sockets of the individual bulbs. Oh, and to get the lights out, just open the rear hatch and on each side there is a 10mm bolt. Loosen that and pull the taillight out. The bulbs for the plate lights can be bought at the dealer.
I had some similar brake problems when I first got my car. Stocktriggers is right, you just undo that 10mm bolt and the whole light slides out. Then unscrwew the bulb holder from the tailight.
My problem turned out to be a bad socket. Someone had tried to force a bulb in there and broke the metal contact inside the socket. It would then bounce around in there sometimes causing the lights to work, not work and even at times shorting and causing it to look like I was braking when I wasnt.
I ended up getting a whole new light harness assembly and everything is A OK! It just clippes in and out.

Sounds easy enough. Ill stop by the dealership on the way home and get it done this weekend. I have been putting it off for like 4 months now, and it would be stupid to get pulled over for a busted tail lights when I have had 2-3 beers of something like that....NOT WORTH A DUI u knoe? Thank you guys
Done and DOne
Only took 3 trips to the dealership....the guy gave me the wrong bulb (it had a single contact, and it was supposed to be a double.) Then I realized one of my running lights burned out, so I had to go back to the deal. ARGH $40.00 later all my lights work, and the funny thing is the tailights were easy to remove, I swear my honda was 5x more work to remove the taillights! Thanks guys
