Throttle Body upgrade question

Do any of you guys run a throttle body upgrade on your N/A 996's,specifically 3.6L??? If you do, where did you purchase it??? Any thoughts about doing this mod???

Thanks in advanced,
Chasen

FVD makes a larger throttlebody for the 996.

These are my theories on the Throttle Body Mod:

1) The Larger Diameter will slowdown the speed of the air going into the engine, leading once again to a power loss downlow with some slight gains at the top.

2) for maximum benifit you would have to port your intake manifold to match.

3) if your car is supercharged, this may be a good step to take as you are forcing more air in anyhow so issue on point 1 isn't an issue, with proper flow matching, gains can be realized.

I believe 6speedmember 1999PorscheC2 has done this mod to his supercharged 996 (amongst other mods).

Hopefully someone with a physics background will step in here and straighten out my claims.

This is a good start, but what are the diameters stock and "enlarged"? Is the enlarged just a different model or bored out? The reason is that I measured the TB I.D. was about 1mm smaller than the surrounding intake pipes. Not a huge difference but considering the space/flow restriction of the throttle plate, a mm or two larger might be beneficial but I would imagine only minimally so. Right after the TB is the connecting pipe to the intake manifolds so there would be little consideration after the enlargement.

You can enlarge only the outside or the inside toward the intake manifolds?
