Darren, I'm sorry to hear that your bummed...

about your RoW setup. Mine took about 2 weeks to settle down... especially in the front. I got my parts from Andial in Cali. I can't remember where you got yours. Are you absolutely sure that you got the RoW kit for your C2 6spd cabrio? I saw your pics and your front does look higher than what I've seen.

Regarding the ride, we have some pretty sorry @$$ roads down here in Houston. Pot Hole Cental. Metro buses tearing all right hand lanes to pieces. The RoW can get a little rough at times but overall, I feel that the setup is a terrific mix for road and track.

The difference out on the track is unbelievable when compared to the stock setup. Perhaps you should get your sweet ride out on a local track and open it up! This might help in the decision of whether or not to keep the RoW.

I know NYC roads also bite the big one! But your RoW feel is probably quite mild compared to much stiffer race jobs.

It's unfortunate that you're not very happy at the moment. Has the front settled at all yet?

I was hoping for a bit more of a drop with my ROW install. However, the difference between the standard US and ROW is night and day in the handling department.

Panorama had the article a few months back that gave the color codes for the different springs for the different cars (C2 v C4/ coupe v cab... etc). Before installing mine, I made sure I had the correct springs.

Darren......I'd be pissed too.
From my experience......it's not going to settle that much.
You are doomed.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Anyway....another thought, it is not totally out-of-the-realm that something is wrong in there. I had a h*ll of a time wkg w/H&R on their early springs for a C4cab.......back then I learned that Porsche parts books had like six dif part # springs for 996. As mentioned, last year an artical ran in Pano discussing how to interpret all the color codes & part #s on 996 springs / other susp. parts....it read like a college term paper (all due respect to the author).

Anyway, below is a pic of H&R springs on Carerra rims w/spacers (before the springs 'settled', which they didn't) (and before Ben bought the rims)
I like coil-overs also but you need to shop carefully there also......make sure they have enough "up adjust" for ya and that the ride is not 'firmer' than you may like.

Good luck bud.

thanks guys for all your assistance - the parts were correct for my 03 cab so it is very strange how the car is still riding so high

I think my RoW 030 can be a bit stiffer and I'm thinking about upgrading to the PSS9s or the H&Rs then I don't live in New York either. I'm sorry to hear you don't like your 030s. Like other posts, perhaps a change to the PSS9s is in order. I'm sure you won't have any problems selling the 030s.

Relax about the ride height

I was totally pissed after install the ROW M030 on my C2 cab. I hardly changed the ride height at all. The car still had that awful nose-in-the-air look. Now after several miles and a few track days the cars nose has settled to a very satisfying height. While it's certainly not 'slammed' it looks very sporty and snug to the road.

As far as ride harshness, well you better just get used to it. There is no doubt that it's significantly harsher than stock and that it will stay that way. Period. As I track my car and only drive it on pretty days with now chance of rain (I know, puss ) I love the stiffness and always hated how the stock suspension allowed the nose of the car to bob on uneven pavement. Now it just crashes

ROW is too harsh a ride

unless you have great roads, yes it's much better on the track but in my case only 2.5% of my cars life was on the track 97.5% was on city streets. I had a 01 996 that I installed ROW suspension on and it lowered the car more than what yours looks like in the picture (it only settled a 1/4 inch) but the ride was way too harsh. On my 03 C4S which comes with US M030 sport suspension I just put in H&R springs they lowered the car nicely with very little ride comfort sacrificed.

Darren,

I installed ROW on my 02 Cab 4K ago. Still high and still too stiff.

Like you I think it was a waste of money.

Darren,

I have a Turbo Cab on order so I may just replace the car with that; I don't plan on changing it unless I decide to keep the car long term...

Roy

ps. For the TCab, I went with Midnight, grey interior, blue carpets and blue stitching

Still got the old girl. Only 2,300 miles on it. It's not worth sh.. in trade (82K last month) so I'm thinking of getting the RUF 520hp kit for it....

It is a great color for not showing dirt and chips... Midnight is such a beautiful color. Would you do it again?

Roy

Here's a fairly recent pic

Roy I would not do the midnight again because of all the chips I have had - maybe I should just buy your TT - seriously missing the TT performance
