targa owner question

Hey-
What is the panel that is between the windshield and the glass top made of?
Mine has scratches in it and I would like to buff it out. When I tap on it, it sounds like glass but being scratched like it is from someone's towel, I would suspect that it is something else.

If you have already come across this issue, how did you correct it?

Maybe Lexan? The same stuff on your headlights covers. If it's scratched by towels, they weren't using 100% cotton but using a towel with Ryan.

So with that thought of it being Lexan, I could use a plastic polish?
On the Firebirds that I used to drive, the rear tail assembly was this dark black plastic-type lens. It would scratch easily and I used a plastic polish by Zaino to work out the damage.
I'll have to try a small area first.
