Eric, you rock!

GAL is the speed sensitive volume control on the radio. Dunno what is stands for

MOST is the fiber optic harness that was installed in all MY03+, still dunno what it stands for. This made it all but impossible to upgrade stereo components without installing all new wiring.

All Nav data will show on the radio face ONLY.

According to Becker and the HKTrafficPro.com site, it will not work for an '03 Carrera.

Okay the total price is $455 shipped. I have access to 3 that can be shipped as soon as payment is made (Paypal available) I can get as many as we need at that price but there is a 5-7 day delay on shipping.

Is there a way to use either the storage bin or cd holder spaces to install a small amplified speaker to play the voices? I'm sure a competant stereo shop can fabricate something like that up, if the head unit has the capibility to power it or send the signal?

The voices go over your current speakers why would you want to do the alternative.

Because I wasn't sure if the voices would still go over for the fiber optic systems.

I just install the Traffic Pro in my 986S. The unit is pretty good especially for the price.

The only thing that bothers me is the map data is from 2001. Harman claims they are going to release an update this summer, but somehow

I don't believe them since there has never been an update.

I got mine from Crutchfied for $459 shipped using this link

http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rmc1cagb/index.html

and this code in the comments field: pzvbu-y7ev9-yddiz

They offer a 30 day return which I may be taking advantage of if I don't hear anything definite about an update.

Does it tell you the names of the streets when you are turning? How do you know you are picking the correct address without a map (i.e. several different streets with the same name) Also, does it have an in-dash cd player; is that where the map cd goes?

MJC, yes to all your questions.

Incidentally Becker is coming out with the Traffic Pro2 www.trafficpro2.com and that may be why there are deals on what used to be a $1400 unit. In checking over the sight I couldn't find where there is any difference, but it is a good site to go to to get a movie clip of it.

Incidentally, the Traffic Pro that I have in my 02 is more accurate than the Nav system I have in my 01 E430. The latter has the screen, however.

Another alternative is go get a portable one. They now have just as many features and some like Garmin are voice activated with screens nearly as large as OEM ones.

It is very easy to pick the Destination or Point of Intrest (ATM gas station, etc).

Destination:
Pick City (you scroll through the letters ie. Costa Mesa, Pick "C" next it will limit the 2nd letter with only the cities that start with C so you won't get the letter in the Alphabet that are not used for cities that start with C. Makes it easier to scroll through throwing out the letters that can't be used.

Next you pick the street in the same way.
Next you pick either go. or the street numeric address. then go

very simple

It tells you both visualy and through a voice over the speakers to turn and the street to turn onto. Alongwith the distance to that next turn. It is very accurate.

It came in handy for the first time yesterday. After lunch at the meet I was in an area of town that I was not so familair with I knew which freeway I needed to get to but I had no idea where it was. I entered in my saved "HOME" address (you can save up to 50 regularly used locations) I let the traffic pro take me home. It worked!!!

also Sandoval, did you have to add the gal wire or the reverse one? The gal probably is already there for the speed sensor but the reverse light? Is it even necessary?

I didn't connect reverse lead to the proper spot, but you may need to ground it. Before I did that, it always thought it was in reverse.
