Best thing to do is just to swap them out during each brake job. I always recommend this to anyone who asks "what should I buy when I do my brakes". They are only a few bucks.

mine is an 02 coupe and it definately contacts the fluid bottle.

I'll take a look-see when you come in and make sure you put it in right There are detailed instructions on EVO's site but make sure you got the smog pump and the bracket orientated the right way...
