Unhappy turbo bumper install -- can i be this stupid?

dont tell me grills go into the bumper BEFORE the bumper goes on the car? i just finished putting everything together and it looks like the grills dont really fit... do i need to take the bumper off and put the grills in and than put the bumper back on?

jkb - sorry man. I don't think there's a way around it. You need to install them from the back side of the bumper.

ok, the bumper is in. a few problems:

1. i will have to get new side grills since existing ones seem to have strange cutout in them which shouldn't be there. i bought the bumper and three grills on craigslist and everything else is fine. didnt notice they are cutout like this until the install time. the weird part is that the grills were in the sealed plastic bags with porsche part number stickers on them.

2. i broke a couple of rivets inside the wheel well. they are kind of a pain to get out. will have to buy new ones. also the plastic lining inside the wheel well doesn't really align all that well with a turbo bumper.

3. the gap is bigger than i was hoping it would be:

4. i need to figure out how to secure the lip properly. there is a hole in there for some sort of screw or rivet:

i did use tie wraps for now, will get metal extensions done later.

also it looks like having some black duct tape behind center grill might help?

look in the upper left corner (the side toward the center grill)

you will see there is a square cut out that shouldn't be there.

didn't the 01 turbo's have bumperettes in the front? Maybe the cutout is for that?

gotcha. i figured that was something weird with the pic when i saw it. wow, that looks like ****. yep, you need to grills. and they're not cheap from the dealer. you ought to get that bonehead from craig's list to give you a refund.

doubt i can do that. its been a couple of months and i got a good price on the bumper and grills anyways ($600 for everything)

maybe somebody who upgrade their TT bumper to aftermarket one can sell me their grills. if not, i'll just get new ones from a dealer.
