How do i know which version i have... its a 1999.... but is looking at the ECU the only way to know?

1999 C2 was the only 996 without e-gas....all other cars are e-gas.

 

so for sure then.. my car has an actuall throttle cable?

because its a 1999 C2

Crazy thought, but why not look at your throttle and see if has a cable?

 

wont it have a cable anyways...? or is the actuator motor actually on the throttle body?

if so... then i should stop being lazy and go look!!

 

Or look at your gas pedal.....I dont think mine has a cable attached....but the 1999 C2 DOES NOT have E-Gas....1999+ C4 and 2000+ C2.....

 

oh well... just one less thing that can breakdown!!!

Little late coming to this thread but I agree with the above and look at your gas pedal but that was already mentioned, awesome, found a fellow Vancouverite already!!!

 

Hey I just saw this thread while searching I have a 99 C4 so that means I AM E-Gas? what are the 00+ 996's?

 

Reread the thread sloooowly and you'll find you answer.

 

If your talking about that I didnt know if he meant all other 99's were E-Gas while the 99C2 and 00+ were Cable. or just all other 996s are e-gas

So instead of just helping me you had to give a dick answer which still leaves this thread open ended

 

Like I said earlier.....

"1999+ C4 and 2000+ C2....." are all E-Gas....

 

go back and pop open your engine lid...look at the little throttle piece near the throttle body and if there are electrical wires running from it...then its a e-gas...like my 2000 c2

you can definately tell...there is a little module thing there with wires running out from it...most of the ones with tc or psm have the e-gas one because psm will kick in

 

The ONLY 996 that is NOT E-Gas is a 99 C2. So ALL OTHER 996s are E-Gas.
