Question for Cab owners

Does any part of your softtop leak when you go through the automatic carwash?

Just got a new top and window after someone broke into my car via the plastic rear but insurance made me to go this non-porsche mechanic. I ran through the carwash today and there's a big leak coming from the driver's side corner of the top and there is water seeping through the rear plastic window edges. My only fear is that if there are small holes now they'll only get larger over time.

As always thanks for the input.

Sorry to hear about your top...no my top has NEVER leaked...had a new rear window installed and it doesnt leak. FYI in the future, you have the right to take your car ANYWHERE you want. your insurance company cannot tell you where to have your car fixed.....what they do is strongly suggest or dont give you a choice....but by law you can go anywhere....My car was rear ended...the insurance company got my body shop to give them a quote for repairing the bumper...I told them I wasnt ok with that....they went throught this whole huge thing about how they dont think its bad enough to be replaced, and how a repaired bumper would be just as good...when I said...NO, they said...ok...no problem, we will honor the more expensive estimate to replace your bumper....so in the future, get your Porsche fixed by people who know how to fix Porsches and dont let your insurance company tell you what to do....

top rear should not leak. only a few drop may seep by the "b pillar" area where front and rear window meet. ur rear window is definitely not properly fitted. i think OEM is glued so water seeping will mess up the glue.

well your first problem is WHY ARE YOU TAKING YOUR CAR TO A DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH!!!!!

Are you crazy!!!???!!!

In serious...to answer your question...same as above my top does not has not leaked. But then again I have never taken my cab to a drive through car wash either. Take it back and let them know your top is leaking...totally unacceptable.

and for the record I am not a car wash snob...I know not everyone can afford a zymol detail every week...but me being a cheapo have found some good hand car wash places that charge pretty much the same as a drive through one. I actually am very lucky to have three choices where it is around $20 - $25 with tip...for a complete hand wash. NO MACHINES. So that is what is meant by my opening statement. Those drive through places will scratch or damage your baby. Hope you were not offended!

Agreed....Plus my car is too low to go through and I dont want my black rims scratched up in those channels....so even if I got to one, I tell them it has to be washed by hand...its only a few extra bucks and they pull out the hose and wash it by hand, then pull it up to be dried and detailed.....

Thanks for the input guys.

And for the record, I had my car detailed just a few weeks ago but unfortunately I parked under a treeful of grackles and they sh*t all over my car. (Anybody here from Austin would know what I'm talking about). When I realized this, I immediately took it to the nearest touch-free carwash I could find, and that sh*t came right out. Literally. But that's also when I noticed the leaks.
