In the middle of SSK install - PROBLEMS! SOS!

sorry for the panic button, but i am in the middle of the SSK install, the car is all taken apart and i cant seem to figure out how to get the reverse gear pivot ball in its place. it seem like there is a little white clip that goes in there. do i simply not need it? i can't seem to get it in there. i'll post pics in a few minutes -- need to grab my camera from upstairs.

anybody around who might shed some light on this?

Was the car in neutal when you started to disassemble everything? If so, try holding the gear lever in it's central position and then connect up. I'd be tempted to then check you can get all the gears with the clutch in and the engine running, then take it out for a test drive BEFORE reassembling the console and everything ....

BTW, when I did mine it seemed rather stiff for a week or so, but now it's like butter..

thanks... i took the car for a ride and tried a few different linker combos. they all seem OK. not sure which one to pick. is there a chance of this possibly ruining the transmission if hooked up incorrectly?

i'll try to find somebody locally on monday who got this adjustment tool.

that clip is no longer necessary. you did the right thing by leaving it out.
