Spacing out rear wheels

Is it possible to space out the rear wheels a bit? If so, what is the max spacer that can be used-
I have the 18" 5-spoke design wheels and 285/30/18 rubber.

Looking at my pcar it sems they have room to sit out a bit more but i'm unsure if it is possible or wise to do this.

NikoS3 is infamous around these parts
The same thing has been on my mind for quit some time now, and i finally got a set up for my car this week. I ended up with OEM 5mm spacers at the front and 15mm spacers at the back. My car is identical to your only that it is a C4. The front looks excellent, the rear might be a bit too much...or at least that is my first impression and i might get used to the new looks in a couple of days.

I think i took a couple of pics with my phone camera, i will try to upload them.

Nikos.

Niko- did you need to pick up longer bolts as well?
I saw a set of 30mm spacers online for a 996, is that too much?

Yes you DO need longer bolts, in my opinion even for the 5mm spacers.
30mm spacers is WAY too much...I think 15mm or maybe 17mm is the most you can use at the rear.

Nikos.

I am trying to upload the pics but there seems to be a problem...

Thanks for the pics Redridge- That looks about right, I will probably do that. How much was the spacer setup w. bolts and where did you get them?

thanks- funny the 18mm spacer kit is $1 less than the 15mm spacer kit.

What is the largest spacer that can be put in the rear w/ 285/30/18 tires? Was thinking of going a bit more in the rear like 17mm or 18mm.

15 mm is max, with 65mm offset... with 285 tires, its doable with 265.
