V1 all the way. The directionals are great, not to mention, as stated here before the fact that I can continuously send in and check on-line whether I need a software upgrade is great.

When you think you could have had a V8. Get a V1

I have a 8500 XL. Performance is good, no stops. I like the V1's arrows.......the box design is very seventies.......you would think they'd upgrade to a more streamline box. Looks like brick to me.

V1

Any ideas on a group buy? Do they sell at Group Buy rates?

8500 here,... I borowed V1 for a week and find that in cities, to much false alarm. Kinda annoying especialy if your not even speeding. I think 8500 does a better job with noise issues!!!

In the FWIW department......... with all the reasearch I did on the X50 and V1, I actually choose the V1 because of its size. (much smaller than I had thought).

I liked that it was shorter than the other, and have it mounted just to the right of my mirror. Almost looks like it belongs in the car. (plus I think hands down the mounting bracket itself is much more robust).

So for performance both are great...........one other item I'd mention (arrows aside, which I can see are nice to have)..... the V1 does in-fact detect radar from the rear, non of the others do. The quality of what V1 sends you is great. (although obviously the cost of it is more).

Agreed on alerts in city.....not figured out which setting is best for that.

I think the only reason to buy a radar detector other than the V1 is if you really want one that's built in, like a K-40. Since your Passport isn't built-in either, I'd go with the V1.

I'd swear by the k40. Other than the fact that it's stealth (built into the car), the manufactures also will pay for any tickets you get while you have one. You can't beat that. It's a little pricy, but it has saved me many times.

Fully agree, You can't tell it's in the dash till it goes off,and it does pick up from the rear sensor.

Knock wood. I ve had a V1 for years, cheap to send in for the upgrades, will never be obsolete unless FL changes the current laws that would forbid them..

I have never gotten a speeding ticket with my V1. It works so well and identifies all the things its suppose to. I like to know the whereabouts of the radar, back, front, side. Its the best thing I have ever bought.

Even instant on radar can be detected as long as you arent the first in line,, then you are toast.. If you use your head, common sense and the V1, chances are you will be safe from tickets.

don

ps be careful of aircraft!! may be tough to detect.

I never understood the advantage of the V1 directional lights... I mean all you really need is one light. Your gonna slow down no matter where its coming from... big deal that you know hes behind you, your still gonna have to slow down and adjust to legal limits.
Maybe Im just missing the bigger picture?
