[quote=Gcookie]This is the second RMS leak and and history file was a half inch thick having had all of the known Pcar problems, ignition switch (key stuck), raddles, oil senser, RMS and new clutch at 10,000![quote]

That really isn't much.. clutch out at 10k... shoot there are a TON of people out there that cannot drive a manual for the life of them, and a Porsche is harder to drive than a honda.

Rattles, who knows how **** the previous owner was, maybe it was a rattle from something very very very small, doesn't make the car a warranty nightmare.

the oil sensor and RMS do SUCK, but up until the 997 parts came out for the RMS I do understand there were not perfect, nor are they still.

at the end of the day, don't freak out on the service history of your car. It would be one thing if it was on it's 3rd motor, or had the entire engine taken apart twice already

good luck!

Damn Gcookie...sounds like you bought a track car. I am amazed by the locos that buy a new Porsche, drive the hell out of it at a track and return it...oh yeah..it was a lease!!!

You should have Porsche check the #1 and #2 level RPM memory in the ECU. Basically if you have multiple #2 rev counts that means the driver down shifted drastically from 6th to 3rd or 5th to 2nd gear high revving to the Max. #1 Rev counts just revs past 6K. Would be good to see and give you insight on how the last owner drove it.

i'm not from orig post, but just had RMS & IMS seal fixed at p service & it was covered by my aftermarket warranty (Fidelity). i bought warranty from local p dealer 3 yrs ago for my 02 996 which i had just bought from private party.
I paid $500 for clutch from sunset and had it installed for me at no cost. Car only has 27k miles now, The warranty covered all RMS/IMS seal cost including oil which was about $1100 .

my warranty company always makes me come up with reciepts for oil changes and such before they will cover anything, be prepared for them to battle you on the repair.
