my swervy left turn
my swervy left turn
Ok, so today I was trying to make the yellow light at a left turn so i gas my C2 and go for it. No wheel noise, everything is cool... that in until i finish the turn and i realize that i am over turning, so i try to straighten it out by turning to the right, basically the car felt unstable & swervy & had a lot of roll at the end of that turn.. very sloppy... how could i have handled it better?
I currently have the standard stock suspension...
I am going to install my PSS9's but do i need sway bars too?
I have 235/40/19 38PSI in the front, 295/30/19 42 PSI in the rear, Michilin Pilot 2's.
Odd thing is that there was no tire noise which would have alerted me that maybe I was sliding or in a drift? I have no idea why the turn was so unsettling, i was not completely out of control or in danger, but it was very unsettling & did not make me feel confident.
My daily driver is a BMW E46 w/ Eibach Pro kit and Racing Dynamics sway bars. 235/40/18 38PSI Kumho ASX all around. That car gives me feedback & the tires will screech when they slip... the car is also much flatter in a turn. I feel much more comfortabe/safe in the BMW (yes it has 170 HP tho) but its just more predictable...
Any thoughts?

perhaps you were shifting too much weight towards the front wheels (by breaking into the turn), causing the rear to loose grip.
than, by lifting the break pedal earlier than you did, you could have avoided the oversteer.
(i'm just guessing here)
I have no expeirence with suspension modification on 911s, however, using big fat tires imho, doesnt contribute to the "lack of communication" that you are missing.
regardless of that, having a huge mass hanging over the rear axle (engine) doesnt help to gain confidence in such manuevers (vs your BMW)

Did you lift on the gas mid turn this can shift weight forward and loosen up the rear end.
Was there anything on the road? Oil, antifreeze etc? to many factors to actually know what went wrong really.

I might have let off of the gas mid turn or toward the end, but that is because I didnt want to blast thru the turn at like 60 mph, so perhaps i let off the gas... its hard to remember, unfortunately no video.
The light just turned yellow as i was in the turn lane so it was one of those toss up moments.
