Lousy Porsche Service Again

I had a 6 CD player installed in my 03 cab. with the MOST system.

The workmanship was the worst I have ever experienced at any time, since I owned my first car which was a FORD.

The inside of my trunk was missing screws, fasteners, and who ever worked on my car put a deep scratch in the cover over the master cylinder.

Furthermore, both rear side door panels were scratched and torn when the mechanic was installing the FO cable.

The service manager apologized and said that he would make everything right.

I got my car back today, and everything that they damaged was replaced. It took 3 months to get the rear side door panels.

The PROBLEM is that they replaced my rear side door panels with leather panels instead of the leatherette rear side door panels. The interior looks like a hybrid...leather seats, leather rear side door panels, and everything else leatherette.

The dealer said that they were "upgrading" me to leather rear side door panels. I said fine continue with the rest of the upgrade to the rest of my interior.

The dealer said that he can't order the rear leatherette side door panels.

Is this true? I can't believe that. What do you think I should do? Would you be happy with my situation?

Thanks

Hell no, why would anybody be happy getting bent over like that? Don't let the dealer push you around. He's lucky just not to compensate you for their mistakes in the first place in the sense of your lost time and incovenience. The dealer owes you more than just a proper replacement in this particular case.

Which dealer is this?

I'd suggest that you request (demand) a meeting with the Service Manager and the Porsche Service Rep for your area.

I am sure what you mean buy "rear side door panels"... but interior door panels seem to be available in leatherette, and also the rear (seat area) side panels are also available in leatherette. If you provide more data on exactly what part you are talking about, I will see if I can help you find the correct part number to discuss with the dealer.

Hi Doug,

I am talking about the rear interior side panels. I didn't mean door. :-)

When the dealer ordered the panels, he said that the leather panels were shipped based upon my VIN#.

He went ahead and installed them anyway without even asking for my approval.

I have the standard black interior.

Thanks for your response!

Ahh, I see. I will ask and see f I can get a part # for you as I am pretty certain leatherette is available. Don't know about the vin # issue tho.

Assuming you have a newer C2 coupe, if they repeat the "leatherette is not available, you might ask them what #996-555-071-08-DEO and #996-555-072-08-DEO are. I think they are what you are looking for - however, don't run out and order anything based on that # until you verify it because I may be wrong

Disappointing to hear. I don't understand what the rear interior side panels have to do with installing the CD changer. I had one installed on my '04 Carrera (obviously with MOST), and they run the new fiber harness from the trunk to the radio--nowhere near the rear seat area. Sounds like it's time to find a new dealer to service your car...
