Well I decided to make the move from a family sports sedan with 'light' mods to a true sports car. I can comfortably afford a '00 C2 or something like that right now, but in a year or so I could probably get a Twin turbo. I am not sure whether to bite the bullet and hold out for a year, or just to get a C2 right now.

my honest opinion, if u want to wait for the TT u have to quit 6speeding online here first ... just don't think u can wait!

Agreed I have a lightly modded A4 1.8t right now, and I am thinking about trading it in for a 00 S4 for the next couple years, and keeping it as a daily driver and having the TT for a weekend warrior and for 'fun' long drives. I am also just thinking of putting a t28 or something on the A4 to hold me over and keeping it when I have the TT.

Hmmm...why not both? Get the C2 this year and trade it in on a turbo next year. Buying a used '00 now should hold most of it's value by next year. Enjoy today-

This sounds like a nice plan Mind you, previously when purchasing a slightly used (2-3 years) german car, I saw over 15% in depreciation in 1 year (Audi A4 1.8T).

The depreciation on an Audi is entirely different. If you bought a '00 C2 its pretty much depreciated most of the way. At most it would cost you $5k or so in the worst of situations. Most likely the vehicle won't depreciate at all and you could get everything back.

I would either hold off and get the TT in one year or get the TT now and carry a little extra financing. Buying a C2 now and then swapping to a TT a year later will cost you more money in the long run. Why pay sales tax twice! Also, if you spend any money to service, repair or modify your C2, that's all additional funds that can be applied to your TT today.
