seconding cleaning the radiator. just looking without removing the bumper alot of times makes it difficult to see just how dirty it is. plus when you are looking through the bumper, you are seeing the ac condensor and not the radiator as the condensor hangs in front of the radiator. crap gets trapped between the two.

Anyway, a pressurized system does not make the system any cooler or hotter than if it was not pressurized. All it does is raise the boiling point of the liquid.
Exactly why a bad cap needs replacement because if you loose pressure, the boiling point increases hence, a hotter running engine. It's only $20 to replace the cap

I did mod on cooling fans ,i install switch ,and now i can turn them manually .Works great . But i found out ,if i let fans turn by them self ,then spin slow ,but if i turn them manually then they spins very fast .And if I wait for them ( fans ) to come up,then it is long time before they start working ,ussally pointer way over 180 degree .I just wonder ,if here is some type of sensor ( like ballast resistor ) ,which control speed of fans ??

It seems like there should be a way to simply reprogram the start point for the fans. Any ideas on this...

does anyone know when the hot temp switch trips? Running the engine at 215F is that to hot? What is the range of acceptable operating temp?

Just got an 02 996 C2 -I'm in Honolulu where its always in 80's up to 90 with traffic- cleaned out radiators, drained few gals of antifreeze and replaced with distilled water and water wetter for 70/30 mix, cap is fine, no leaks, got all air out.
- no difference in temp- car runs in middle to right side of 0 most of time. Haven't done any track time. Was thinking of 3rd radiatior but before i spend the $, thought i'd try this mod.
I want to be sure i understand so as not to screw anything up. to do the fan mod on the two fan fuses in the drivers foot area-Do i place a wire to one side of each of the fuses and run these to one side of switch- other side of switch goes to ground and fans should turn on with switch. Does it matter which side of each fuse one inserts the wires?
