200 degree ! It is too hot ??
Hi. I have 2000 C2 .Every time i get stock in traffic ,temerature gage go to 200 ,but i after i start driving ,it is get on the middile again. This happen not even in hot day or heavy traffic .I check my coolant level ,and it is ok .So my question is : My engine running too hot ? Can i do some mods : add extra fan or something else ?
Thank you

First I'd check if you have air trapped in your cooling system. There is a procedure to bleed it. This is most common. Next most common is to check if you have debris in the front radiators. You'd be amazed what I pull out of mine. With an aerokit bumper, you can get a smaller hose wet dry vac inside, with the stock C2 bumper, you can't. Depending on your front bumper, you may have to remove it to vac out the radiators. This should be done yearly BTW.

Don't trust the gauge. Your coolant temprature regularly and quickly gets above 215F in city drivings in Vegas.

Radiator Fan and Engine Compartment Fan Switch Mod
The 3.4 996 runs extremely hot when driving around town in temperatures higher than 75 degrees. This mod is a way to reduce coolant temps back to a safer level, helping to reduce oil temps and improving performance. The relays on the 3.4 are the bottom row, and include the last one to the right and the 3rd from the right.
The mod consists of installing a switch that will allow you to turn on the high speed radiator fans at any time, while maintaining the automatic operation of the fans. We do the same for the engine compartment fan.
Radiator Fans
Connect a wire to the ground of the 2 high speed fan relays located on the relay carrier located in the driver’s side foot well. The relays are #20 and #22. Feed this wire to where your switch will be located. Connect the wire to one side of the switch. Connect another wire from the other contact on the switch and then connect the other end of this wire to a chassis ground point.
With key on, this switch will now immediately turn on both radiator fans providing maximum cooling. When you turn the key off, the fans will continue to run for about 5 seconds until the relay shuts down. Your fan operation remains normal when the switch is off.
For some reason I cannot upload pics of the relays, but if you look under the dash in the driver's side footwell to the left, you will see them. If you want to do this mod in 5 minutes, simply connect the wires to the 2 contacts on the relays, twist them together and ground it to a chasis point. The fans will run full speed when the engine is running and your can see the difference in engine and oil temperatures before you actually install a switch.
