Radar Detector Hard Wire issues

hi guys, i have a passport 8500 X50, i am attempting to hard wire it and decided to use the telephone plug that is behind the storage bin, like some mentioned, i hooked up the power cable to the switched red and green wire like mentioned in the write up and the ground to the brown wire from the telephone plug, i checked both the inline fuse on the detector and the fuse in the cars fuse box, both are good, but i still don't have any power to the radar detector....
this is the write up i used:

any help would be apreciated!
thanks

SQLB is infamous around these parts
I did mine over a year ago using the same Passport unit and I wired it to the power cable used by the lights on the overhead console. Took me about 30 minutes total.

well i got it done, there ar ea few reasons it took longer then it was supposed to:
-first kirby has in his write up that the red and green is switched, that is not the case, it is the green and black that is switched.
-then the bloody smart cord that i got was messed, it was wired backwards, the ground was actually the live and the live wire that had the fuse inline was actually supposed to be a ground!!
figured this by testing the little pins on the end that looks like a telephone jack, and the live and ground were different (swaped)as compared to the cigerette lighter plug in....
so i had to do some cutting an splicing, but got it all done, and decided to keep the detector just above the dash, for better detection, and since mine is a targa, it does not fit abouve the rearview mirror!
thanks for the input !!

Kirby, ya seems as tho the green and black is the switched one, and the green and red one is the unswitched one, i just assumed that it may be a diff in the years but i doubt it
