Too Much Oil

I added oil to my car (2003 996 cab. ) and now it shows one mark above max. Is this something to worry about, Could it damage something or should I remove some? or let the engine consume it?

Too much oil is bad for an engine. It can cause minor things like oil leaks, to major things like air getting in the oil and it turning into foam reducing its lubricating ability which causes more heat and more friction....In flat 6 engines it also will smoke more at startup.

If you are near or above max, and start working the car, you will blow smoke also. It is fairly common to see 996s blow alarming smoke when autocrossed, because the owner topped off the oil. Usually gone after the first session... =)

I can verify that 100% having just gone thru it. (needs to be below the max line on the stick........... preferrably 1bar blank below the upper-line, to match on your dash).
