B&M short shift kit 45183 - 02 996- anyinfo

I bought on ebay what i thought was a B&M short shifter- It is a B&M "short throw sport shifter" part # 45183 which fits 02- 04 996 & uses the stock shifter mechanism. It reduces the throw rate by installing parts under car by the trans - It is a B&M kit but does not replace the shifter mechanism as most discussed on line do.
Anyone have any info on this? Wondering if i should return it and get the "right' one or just install this and see. Paid $125. any advice?

its a matter of feel
the under car one is less knotchy than the in car one.. so its more of a personal preference ...
