Need Help Deciding: 01 996tt vs. 03 C4S

I am in the market for another used Porsche. I had an 01 Boxster S that I sold last year, and I am looking for a good used 911 - either a 996tt or a C4S. I am looking for some advice on this potential purchase.

I have been looking at two vehicles:
1) 01 996tt - 49K miles - Well maintained -no warranty - $57K
2) 03 C4S - 22K miles - CPO Warranty - being sold by dealer - $52K

I am going to test drive the C4S tomorrow (I haven't driven the 996tt (or any 996tt for that matter) yet). I am concerned with the C4S due to RMS issues with the motor. I had an RMS issue with my Boxster S. But I do find comfort in the CPO warranty (through end of 08), and the lower miles). However, I feel like I will love the 996tt better, even though it has more miles and NO warranty. Should I be so concerned about the warranty on the 996tt? For a $5K difference between the two my gut is telling me to buy the 996tt and buy an aftermarket warranty.

But I wanted to get some advice from you 996tt owners. Any input you can provide would be appreciated. I am also going to post this in the 996 forum for response by C4S owners.

Thanks in advance.

Buy the 996TT and you'll never look back.

You also might want to shop around some more, I've seen some 2002 TTs with similar mileage (or even a few miles less) for around the same price, and well optioned to boot.

Buy the TT. The warranty isn't an issue, you can get an extended warranty for about 2k a year (I did this on my 1999 911). Besides these babies don't break easily

C4S looks better, the TT clearly accelerates better with the GT1-based engine, but then the TT's got turbos which also has lag. I chose the C4S over the TT with plans to get the 997TT which exhibits much less lag than the 996.

TT, no RMS, way better acceleration, and better looks. I have a 996 TT and have driven the 997 TT. Lag wasn't an issue in either of them, IMHO.

I thought twin turbo got rid of the lag?

not sure if u posted same thread on the TT page, but im sure they'd tell you the same...go with the TT and as others have said...you can prolly get a newer model for the $ if you're patient.
Then again, if u come across one thats mint and right color, condition etc...
jump on it and start boosting!

You are thinking of sequential turbos.
