Installed Pss9 - Questions

Just had the install of the Bilstein Pss9's on my 03' C4. I think it came out quite well, but the local installer set the front height at the lowest setting (about 25.25") in the front and somewhere in the middle (about 25.75" -26.00") in the rear. That is, there is a difference in the height of about .50" (1/2") front to rear. Side to side is pretty uniform height.

The installer suggested that this is a good set-up, but the installer has also set the front at the softest compression setting (8 or 9 I think) and the rear at the middle (about 5 I think) which I also question as not too common from what I have read on this board.

Any comments from the learned board members? Car seems a little "darty" on the front and the oversteer on the back is more pronounced now.

Buhin,
first glad that u're happy with the kit.

however, i'm worry on ur set up. that is not a good set up at all. u drop the car to 25.25 front & set to 9. that's way way too soft for the front with th height u have. also 9 and 4... he must be crazy!

start with 4 or 5 all the way see if u like it & go from there.

I have my PSS-9's on my C2 set at 2 and love the feel. Aggressive but not too firm.

Buhin,

I have the PSS9's on my cab, I love them, currently thay are set at 3 front and rear, but as Arling mentioned, you should set them @ 4-5 and go from there...

just my two cents worth...

Rich

Thanks for all the comments!

Yes, I am going to change the settings to 4 all the way around and see how it rides. On the front, I see the cap for access to changing the settings, but on the rear, I have heard that it is somewhere in the back under the carpet - any suggestions on a cab as to how to get to it?

Thanks

Buhin,

To access the rear settings on a cab, you need to put your top half way down and then remove the (4) plastic insert screws on the carpet panel, afterwards, you will be able to see the adjustment *****. It is a tight fit.

Best of luck...

On my '04 TT Cab, you don't even need to remove the 4 plastic screws -- just pull back the carpet at the forward, outside edge and you can easily reach the adjuster **** on the dampers.

As I don't track this car, I don't think the PSS9 is for me from what I understand. I do however want to lower the car some and eliminate some of the body roll I experience during spirited driving. After doing some investigating, I think that the ROW 030 is what I'm looking for, sound right? What kind of installation costs will I be looking at and what have been some good prices for this suspension? I just would like an idea before I call my dealer to know if he is offering a good deal or not.

thanks as always

I would disagree. The PSS9 is very nice for the street. You can adjust it to say #4 or #5 and have a very comfortable ride. In fact, PSS9 is probably designed more for the street than the track. If you are tracking your car a lot, there are probably better (firmer) suspension products that would be better than PSS9.

Btw, I bought my PSS9 from Mike at A.W.E www.awe-tuning.com. Give him a call -- he was very helpful.

I put ROW on my '02 TT. It is a little cheaper, and lowers the car about 3/4" in front and 1/2 in back, but takes about the same amount of labor time. (6 to 8 hours depending on the shop; plus an alignment.) PSS9 can be made more comfortable on street than the ROW setup however.
