I was wondering about the price discrepancy there... Why is it that 996 cabrios are cheaper then the coupes? actually the whole price structure for 996 is a curiosity - according to Manheim records 2000/2001 996 go for 29/25k respectively while 2002 are 24k. Can anyone shed any light on this for a newbie and a potential buyer?

thanks

they do?

2002 did have a face lift according to the wiki but i must be blind and unless its pointed out I cannot see it... at least not from the pictures I come up with. So many of these are modified that its hard to tell whats factory and whats not.

in many cases cabs depreciate faster than coupes. although they carry a higher price tag when brand new out of the factory, once they're 5+ years old its common to see the coupes being worth more. my friends m3 cab was cheaper to lease than the coupe for this reason (lower residual). lots of factors play into this (more moving parts i.e. potential problems, simple supply & demand due to coupes having stronger demand etc.) if manheim really shows 2002 pricing less than 00/01s, i'd go for the 2002
in reality all other things being equal, i cant see 02s costing less than mk1 models though.

best advice i got when i bought my car! i had to stretch to get the newer/better car that had a history with Champion Porsche. The car has proven to be a joy to own and operate. Complete reliability.

BTW: I'm selling a super 996

The 02 is a much more reliable car then the 00/01's from what I was told when I was looking... I have the 02 C4 and its never had any major or minor issues...

either way you will enjoy the ownership of a p-car...

Love mine!!!

I would think the 4 is more costly than the 2 because more can go wrong ? Given the choice at the same price what would you get ?

Glass Rear Window on Convert 996

Which year 996's have a glass rear window vs. plastic ?

I was looking at a 2003 996 convert and it seems like it's glass and it seems like the 2000 has a plastic rear window.... Any insight on this ?

Thanks
