Escort Radar Detectors ????????????

Brothers of the 911,

I have an older Cobra in my 525i and it has saved me from many tickets. It goes off alot but non the less has worked decently. Now that I picked up my RED 02 911 I need to purchase a radar dectector.

Question: Is there a huge difference between the standard 8500 and the 8500 X50. The X50 is supposed to have more range but are any of you using the Std 8500 with great success ?

Thanks,
chuck

PS- I have a 2pt 102mph in a 65 coming off my record this month . . Cost me big bucks $1400 . . .

I have the 8500 & 8500X50 in two of my SUV's. Have the K40 with Laser Diffusr and V1 and my 9. Only use the K40 for the laser block.

LOVE THE V1

Get the V1. I've got the older Escort fixed installation unit. Works decently even with the older technology but every V1 that I've ever used worked so well I'd be hard pressed not to recommend one. The Escort SRX is supposed to be pretty nice though. A bit more stealth than the V1 and has lidar jammers.

I have the standard 8500 and it works good. I havent used a V1 but it's far superior to my old 6500 and 7500

does the V1's audio alert sound different for different bands detected (K vs Ka for example)? My Passport X50 does and it's really helpful, but I've been thinking about switching to a V1 lately.

thanks... josh
