PSM Experience
PSM Experience
Driving to office this morning I took the ususal route which has some beautiful sweeping curves, given the hour, 7am, there is no traffic either......However, suprise, suprise.. this morning the street cleaners had just finished washing down the road....so, the once beautiful left hand sweep turned into an impromptu and unexpected skid pad test..
60kmh (the posted limit is 70kmh) four wheel drift, the PSM kicks in and straightened the car out almost instantly....wow...
I was waiting for my DE day next month to try it out, but it really is amazing how fast and accurate the PSM is..thankfully.
Next time I use it will be on the track on purpose...I hope

Apparently, the street washers use some sort of organic soap (very much diluted) which stays "greasy" for a few minutes after the application.....Wonder if I could sue teh city had I shunted teh car
PSM was a definite asset as I was driving responsibly and actually below the limit on an otherwise beautiful day... I 've seen some guys pull North of a hundred K thru there....that would have been interesting!

PSM is a must in my book...
The computer senses wheel slippage before you are able to sense and react to it. The corrections happen so fast... it's marvelous. I've had it save me on the street on several occasions, especially in light rain or on slick oily city roads.
I was concerned about it's "interference" out on the track. However, the limits are set so high that it has only kicked in a couple of times, usually when I have been coming in waaay too hot into a turn and end up hitting the brakes pretty hard.
"Cheap insurance" is what DJ996 calls it... I totally agree. It's relatively unobtrusive and plus, it's somewhat defeatable with the switch. How can you lose?
Now, I could understand why professional drivers may not want any input from a computer... but for a weekend tracker like myself, it's a great option to have...

Agree 100% w/ RJ!
I use it on the track most of the time. There are times I've switched it off, but really, I've noticed no difference, so I just leave it on to be safe.
I've had it kick in maybe 3 times on the track and when it does, I'm usually pretty glad it did!
